A presentation for Norman, Ray Tough told the Archive: “Norman is presenting this lovely carriage clock to Terry the Mayor’s Attendant and Chauffeur.” Image courtesy of Loftus Town Council and thanks to Ray Tough for the update. The cigar is a big one and there must have been a good joke made as the group are all laughing. Once again we know Norman and Mayoress Hilda Barwick featured again in the Council Chamber at Eston Town Hall; but can you name any of the others in the photograph? Better still were you there? Image courtesy of Loftus Town Council and thanks to Ray Tough for assistance with names and the location. We now know this to have been in the Council Chamber in Eston Town Hall, as Ray Tough advised: “Yes it was the council chamber at Eston Town Hall.” But the Archive was also hoping for confirmation about the group of children and Norman are admiring the official chain of office. The coat of arms in the background: “United We Endeavour” then Langbaurgh and now Redcar and Cleveland coat of Arms are a feature in the Council Chamber. Are you in this photo? Image courtesy of Loftus Town Council and thanks to Norman Patton and Ray Tough for the updates. As the caption says an unveiling but where and when? The Archive would welcome assistance in any identification. Image courtesy of Loftus Town Council. The unveiling finished, job done. Ray Tough informs us: ”It was probably the opening of the new extension at Eston Town Hall with the new Mayor’s office and Councillor’s room. Left to right are Councillor Arthur Taylor, Norman Lantsbery and Council Leader, Arthur Seed.” Image courtesy of Loftus Town Council and thanks to Ray Tough for the update. Once again we see Norman giving away a cheque, but who to and where and when was the photo taken? HELP. Craig White tells us: “‘Barney’ Buckworth Redcar lifeboat coxswain is the holding cheque , so possibly a cheque for RNLI?” Image courtesy of Loftus Town Council and thanks to Craig White for the update. Another official occasion, identified to date: Mr W A Middleham (Chief Executive Langbaurgh Borough Council), Norman Lantsbery, ?? , Mrs Barwick, Mrs Middleham. But what was the occasion? Image courtesy of Loftus Town Council. A very serious photograph, but who is the Police Superintendent with Norman Lantsbery and on what occasion? J. Champion assists with: “My dad (Bob Foster ex Middlesbrough police) names him a Superintendent Ted McLean.” Image courtesy of Loftus Town Council, thanks to J. Champion for the update. Certainly swinging but where? Ray Tough tells us: “This photograph was taken whilst Norman was Mayor of Langbaurgh Borough Council so must have been in the 1970s.” Image courtesy of Loftus Town Council and thanks to Ray Tough for the update. Hmm! Norman with a gun could be dangerous! Roger Barwick tells us: ”I think the occasion was the opening of sports ground along North Road. I remember having to supply a car (mine) and act as chauffeur (without the uniform); I suspect the official car and or Terry (official chauffeur) were on other duties.” Image courtesy of Loftus Town Council and many thanks to Roger Barwick for the update. |
