Loftus Town Hall

A further postcard image of the Town Hall, a welcoming sight to all travellers through Loftus. The Town Hall was built by Lord Zetland in 1879, replacing on the same site the Parish Church School built by Zachary Moore (formerly Lord of the Manor before Lord Zetland) in 1746.

I have fond memories of this place when I was a teenager. The Old-time Dancing Club held there dances in this Town hall. It was run on Strict Ballroom Rules- I remember there being about 24 different daces each night. If a Lady refused an invitation and accepted someone else in the same dance, then she would barred from dancing the next dance! Good Old Days!
