We think that this family lived at East Loftus, all brothers and sisters, but do not know anything else about them. Can anyone help, please? Identified as: Charity ‘Chat’, Agnes, George and Arthur. The Archive has discovered that George died in 1949 at Aislaby, near Whitby
Stephen Brown-Bolton advises: “This is interesting as I carry the surname Brown-Bolton, My grandfather had nine sons and daughters who all married and had children. My grandmothers surname had been Ingham. We are looking at York and Leeds as cities we live in.”

What a blast from the past this is. The picture shows my Grandmother Agnes and sister Charity (Chat) The brothers I have little recollection of although I think one of them lived in the bungalow at the foot of Whitby Rd. Loftus. Aunt Chat emigrated to Canada (Ontario I think) and I can remember my Dad (Jim Dower) getting letters from her. My Gran (Agnes) was born in 1884 and died in 1945. I have vague memories of her (I was only 3 when she died) and think the family resemblance points to her being the one sitting down.
She married James Dower and lived in Brotton, they had three children. Lilian who married Len Ashley and moved to London and had two sons. Ruby who married Bill Findlay and had two daughters and a son, they continued to live in the family home in Brotton. My Dad Jim who moved to Loftus and married Mary Cook, they had two children, myself and my sister. Of these 7 Grandchildren 3 are deceased and the remaining ones are scattered, two of us in Scotland, one in Spain and one in Devon.
Continuing down the family tree there are 10 great grandchildren (one deceased) and 11 great great grandchildren
Further to my previous comment Agnes and James were married in the Wesleyan Chapel, Carlisle Rd. Bradford on the 11th August 1906, Agnes’s address is given as Girlington Rd. Bradford.
I have a picture of them together but can’t find out to add it to the archive.

Further to the previus posts (my apology for posting one twice). My Grandfather James Dower used to visit us on a Sunday (circa 1950) for dinner and afterwards a game of whist (or solo) with my parents, we were joined by my Great Aunt Mary Bolton (the Brown was not used). I think she was my grandads widowed sisterin-law and was probably married to one of the brothers.
They lost their father in 1889, their mother remarried in 1890 to John Robinson, the family were in Brotton in 1891, Skelton in 1901 and by 1911 were in Loftus. There were at least 5 more children from this second marriage that I currently know of all male.
