A lovely photograph of Mrs Yarker from Carlin How, long time member of the St. John’s Ambulance. Further to Derick Pearson’s comment; researches have shown that Mrs Dorothy M. Yarker was born Dorothy Mary Duffy in 1917, marry Charles Henry Yarker in 1937; she qualified as a Nurse in 1946, and the 1939 Census lists her and her husband Charles (who during WW II was a crane driver at Skinningrove works) living at 68 Gladstone Street, Carlin How. Sadly Mrs Yarker left us in 1972.

By Mrs Yarker, do you mean Emily Yarker, nee Coates? Thanks
Mrs Yarker lived in Gladstone Street Carlin How for about 40 years and was wife to Charles Yarker. She was the mother of Jimmy and if she was with us today she would be about 100 years old. Her daughter in law was Sandra and she Lived with Jimmy at Loftus for the last 30 or 40 years I believe. Sadly the name Emily does not ring a bell. That does not mean it wasn’t her name it just means i have never heard her called that.
I think this is who I thought it was. The Emily Coates I’m thinking of was married to Charley Yarker. She was a cousin of my Great Gran, Annie Lavinia Alexander, nee Coates.
Just to follow up, I think upon further checking that this is actually Dorothy Yarker, nee Duffy! Not Emily Coates. My mistake! Thanks to the Archive for your help.
