Bill Danby tells us (courtesy of his History of Skelton website) about Joe Reed who is the teacher in this photograph (he was headmaster when Stanghow Lane closed in 1961) – ”Joe Reed DFC, who flew with Bomber Command as a navigator in the Second World War and was one of the few who survived. He finished his service as a Squadron Leader and Navigator Instructor.”

Stanghow lane closed about 1964 as I was an infant there and we were the first children to attend skelton infants school at hollybush. I was born 1959. Lovely photo thanks.
I was born in 1962 and attended the school for a short while, So it must of closed around 1967/68. The teachers used to take us over the playing field to see the our new school (infant) being built.I imagine it was the Junior school that you went into from Stanghow Lane.
